Config my server

All kid's tricks...

Today, I installed Ubuntu 5.10 on my PC, and meanwhile removed Red Hat Linux 9 which had been settling on my PC for about two years. Also set up a Apache web server, and successfully added a cron job that synchronize my dynamic IP with this domain - yass.3322.org every 5 minutes, so now you should be able to visit the web page at my yass, well, actually nothing there now... :)

With this server, I will be playing a lot of games, you know what game means.

Final words, APT (the Advanced Packaging Tool) is damn good! RPM sucks...

(Note: I'm only running an experimental server, no always online guarantee)

Two things happened today

第一件事是花了很多精力劳烦了很多人之后，常州的台式机搬到南京来了，我准备充分利用这一闲置资源做一些感兴趣的实验——实验的意思就是：不计后果的捣腾。^_^

第二件事是收到了 Ubuntu 寄来的 free CD，倒腾有对象了。

近期以来感觉很有些激情，想做很多事。这样也好，有事做总比闲着好，好好把握这份来之不易的激情，不要轻易丢失了……

CSS learning

花了一个星期阅读了 CSS 101 教程，这是我第一次系统地学习 CSS 相关知识，对 CSS 终于有了一个整体上的基本了解。个人认为，CSS 自身并没有什么难于理解的东西，虽说标记（tag）比较多，但借助一些工具还是很容易撰写 CSS 代码的。更重要的是如何合理利用 CSS 设计合理并且看着舒服的 HTML 文档，这就属于美学（aesthetic）范畴了。

前面提到了 CSS 101 教程，如果觉得填不饱肚子，还可以瞧一下这个提供大量 CSS 链接的网站，另外，有一个 CSS 编辑器叫做 TopStyle Lite，可以和很多文本编辑器整合，使用非常方便。

或许将来什么时候又一次心血来潮会换一张另外的照片放上去，一个人头，并且和这张很神似的……:-D

Fonts go into 5 categories

字体（这里主要说的是英文字体）从外观上来看大致可以分为 Serif, Sans-serif, Monospace, Script, Dingbat 五类。

• Serif，有衬线的字体，代表有 Times Roman, Times New Roman 等，印刷物（书本、报纸等）常用这种字体；
• Sans-serif，没有衬线的字体（sans 就是没有的意思），代表有 Arial, Verdana 等，网页多用这种字体，因为小文字没有衬线更易阅读；
• Monospace，等宽的字体，代表有 Courier, Courier New 等，程序代码，不管是 text editor 里还是印刷出来的大都用这种字体，看着比较习惯；
• Script（cursive），模仿手写的字体；
• Dingbat（fantasy），由符号（而非字母）组成的字体。

看看各类字体的效果，放大后看得更清楚。

课，听而不选是一种美德

个人感觉在大部分情况下，这一命题成立。就自己的情况而言，这是一则永真命题。

决定从我做起，把这一美德发扬光大。^_^
